The location of the light is the Historical Acadian Village of Nova Scotia. The nearest city is Lower West Pubnico, NS. The station was first established in 1922. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1922.

The lighthouse is a tapered square timber building.

The tower had a fixed green light at a focal plane height of 37 ft above mean high water. The tower height is 31 ft.

This lighthouse was built on the mainland at Abbotts Harbour in 1922, to replace the previous system of a lantern hoisted on a mast which was located on located on Abbotts Island. On Thursday, June 24, 2004, it was cut in three pieces and moved on a flatbed truck from Abbott's Harbour Road, Lobster Bay, to "Le Village Historique Acadien" in West Pubnico.
