The location of the light is Cape San Juan / nature reserve. The nearest city is Fajardo, PR. The station was first established in 1880. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1880.

The lighthouse is a cylindrical tower on front of a white rectangular dwelling; black band around the base.

The tower has a flashing white light at a focal plane height of 260 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 11 nautical miles. The tower height is 45 ft. The light has a period of 15 seconds.
