About Castle Hill Light

The location of the light is Castle Hill Point - Narragansett Bay East Passage. The nearest city is Newport, RI. The station was first established in 1890. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1890.

The lighthouse is a conical granite tower with the upper half white.

The tower has an isophase red light at a focal plane height of 40 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 12 nautical miles. The light has a period of 6 seconds.
