Identification number: 1-9855 (U.S.)

The 2,250-foot breakwater stretching out from Eastern Point Light was built by the Army Corps of Engineers between 1894 and 1905. Dog Bar Breakwater is now part of a 53-acre nature preserve owned by the Massachusetts Audubon Society.

An 'occulting' light is a light in which the total duration of light in a period is longer than the total duration of darkness and the interval of darkness (eclipses) are usually of equal duration. So in the 4 second period, the light is on for more than 2 then off for less than 2.
