About Five Mile Point (Old New Haven) Light

The location of the light is Lighthouse Point Park at the New Haven Harbor Entrance. The nearest city is New Haven, CT. The station was first established in 1805. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1847.

The tower had a light at a focal plane height of 97 ft above mean high water. The light had a nominal range of 10 nautical miles. The tower height is 80 ft.

The light was discontinued in 1877 and replaced by the Southwest Ledge Light.

Five Mile Point (Old New Haven) Light was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 1, 1990, reference number 90001108.
