About Margaree Island Lighthouse

The location of the light is in the center of the Sea Wolf Island National Wildlife Area. The nearest city is Cape Breton, NS. The station was first established in 1854. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1959.

The lighthouse is a white hexagonal tower.

The tower has a flashing white light at a focal plane height of 298 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 9 nautical miles. The tower height is 27 ft. The light has a period of 4 seconds.
