The location of the light is on the west side of the entrance to Medway Harbour. The nearest city is Port Medway, NS. The station was first established in 1851. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1983.

The lighthouse is a white square tower.

The tower has a flashing white light at a focal plane height of 79 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 11 nautical miles. The tower height is 29 ft. The light has a period of 12 seconds.
