The location of the light is just off the southern tip of Vancouver Island. The nearest city is Victoria, BC. The station was first established in 1860. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1860.

The lighthouse is a cylindrical tower with balcony and lantern.

The tower has a flashing white light at a focal plane height of 118 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 19 nautical miles. The tower height is 80 ft. The light has a period of 10 seconds.
