About Sabine Bank Light

The location of the light is Gulf of Mexico - Tower relocated - Modern light tower now. The nearest city is Sabine Pass, TX. The station was first established in 1906. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1906.

The lighthouse is a red conical tower on cylindrical caisson.

The tower has a quick white light at a focal plane height of 30 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 5 nautical miles.

A hurricane in 1915 damaged the light. The light was automated in 1923. The light was deactivated in 2001. The Coast Guard demolished the lighthouse between January and April 2002. A light on a skeletal tower remains on the caisson.
