The location of the light is Off Cape Newagen - west side of Booth Bay entrance. The nearest city is Southport, ME. The station was first established in 1892. The current lighthouse was first lit in 1907.

The lighthouse is a octagonal tower on a dwelling.

The tower has a flashing white light at a focal plane height of 59 ft above mean high water. The light has a nominal range of 12 nautical miles. The light has a period of 6 seconds.

The restored, historic Cuckolds Lighthouse in now an inn. The Inn at Cuckolds Lighthouse welcomes guests for the first time in history to enjoy dramatic ocean views from every window. Access to the island is by boat.

A 'flashing' light is a light in which the total duration of light in a period is shorter than the total duration of darkness and the appearances of light (flashes) are usually of equal duration. So in the 6 second period, the light is on for less than 3 then off for more than 3.

The Cuckolds Light was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Dec. 2, 2002, reference number 02001413.
